Hello! I do believe that we should give to the Lord's work but i've learned to give to ministries who NEED the money, not ministries that are sitting on a reserve of over a million dollars. This is just my own personal opinion.

My husband and I work closely with a ministry who can only pay their employees $25.00 a week! I give generously to them because they have been in operation for over 30 years and by the grace of God, they have been able to do the Lords work with very little. I've also learned that I can "tithe" to God's people...WE ARE THE CHURCH! I often buy groceries for single Christian mothers who are on welfare and who are barely getting by. The church should take care of it's own, not help "heap up riches" on ministers who are making merchandise of the sheep.

I wrote about the same issue the other day. You can find it here: http://crypticinscriptions.blogspot.com/

There are a hundred things I could say on this particular subject, but I think this verse sums things up rather well:

""No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth." -Matthew 6:24

One thing I don't understand is why we expect God to bless us for giving more money to the rich. I thought we were supposed to provide for the poor. I don't see these prosperity preachers doing much for the destitute.

I'll stop there before I get off on a really long tangent.

All things are naked and open to Him with whom we have to do. Therefore, what should you're personal covering be?
"Be clothed with humility."

Reserved front area seating was always the norm whenever I would travel to WOF business suit clubs (a/ka churches). In one church, there were several rows up front that were were roped off; the time for the meeting with the special speaker began, and I asked an usher, "can't I just have a seat up there?" because there were so many empty seats up front, and the crowd was sparse in the middle and back.
The usher in the business suit gave me his standard reply he was taught to recite, but I could tell he seemed a bit flustered; it was so obvious that there were plenty of seats available, yet I the ordinary person could simply not to have one.
About 15 minutes after the "official" start of the meeting -at least the time printed on the program, the usher did in fact release the roped off area.
I say "official" start because in so many meetings I never did see the special speakers come at the official start time; they came in secretly through some special roped off secure area and suddenly appeared up front or "on stage" during the middle of praise and worship with the crowd pumped up.
At that point in the meeting, I decided not to bother to go up front anyway.
You see, at first in many meetings I wanted to get up as close to the front as possible; I was trained that that's where the anointing is, the blessing is, and so forth.
But, as charismania fatigue set in, I decided not to bother; a seat farther back was just fine, and in fact had many advantages; less ear shattering music, less blinding lights in my face when the messages were being videoed, easier
movement around me as the seats up front were close and packed together after praise and worship during many of the meetings, and there were some other benefits as well which could be interpreted by many of the charismanians as simply not being spiritual enough on my part.
There were also special rooms roped off after the meetings for the insiders in the WOF business suit club; as an ordinary publican I was carted off along with the other sheeple into designated areas where books, tapes, cd's special anointing oil, jewelry, etc were on tables being sold, or else directed towards one of the exits.
Ah...the exits; that reminds me of one occassion when I saw Juanita Bynum; it was after 10pm and she was still taking up the offering; at that point I wanted to leave to go to work the next day, and wouldn't you know it, Juanita said to the ushers, lock all of the doors, I don't want anybody being disrespectful and leaving through the exits while the offering is being taken.
For quite a while after that I was literally locked in as she went on and on about the offering; I remember I got home very late that night, very tired, and tired the next day; but I guess I should look on the bright side; at least a fire didn't start in that club (a/k/a church) while we were all locked in.

...and the key, before i go, to the great end time wealth transfer is -- you guessed it -- to have to be obedient and sow big - youve got to sow big to reap big, to get your share of the wealth transfer; that;s what the debt free army stuff was about when i went to those meetings as well. But Jesus said, "when I come back, will i find faith on the earth?"
Gotta go for now; keep fighting the good fight of faith; the real fight of faith; take heart, grace and peace be with you. Marantha, God bless you!

Hi Charismania! Thanks for your welcome on 10/31/09.
A person has to go through the charismania wringer; otherwise, he just won't "get it" such as John.
Perhaps John someday will "get it." *Sigh.*
I remember a church I visited down South with a guest speaker one night; people were falling like dominoes -many I could tell were giving "courtesy drops" (and I remember that term) but unfortunately there was a "catcher shortage" that night. I remember one person fell without a catcher and was really hurt; it was so sad to see that happen, The music kept right on playing, sad to say, as it blared away.
I've noticed that some people equate sound with spirituality; the more noise, the more spiritual the meeting.
The music is pumped up so loudly it will cause long term auditorial nerve damage; I've seen children in the crowds who were at times quite upset with the noise level, and rightly so.
Of course, to someone such as John, all of this must be tolerated, accepted, and indeed welcomed, because "Jesus is more real" than his wife. Hmm; if someone's wife is not so real then maybe that's why someone in the charimaniac club such as Richard Roberts can so easily dump his first wife...or Paula White her second husband for that matter.
As a general rule, you'll find that the WOF business suit club promotes the great end time revival which is linked to - you guessed it - the great end time wealth transfer. We will have the great revival only after the great wealth transfer takes place; once the great wealth transfer takes place, then we can fund the gospel, the gospel will then get to the ends of the earth, hence the great revival will take place.
Also, the world will see how blessed we are and will be provoked to jealousy, as per Creflo Dollar, Copeland, etc.
I sat in many of those meetings bakc in the 90s; I have to go now; I'll check back when I can; thanks so much for your blog; God bless you!

And I don’t see the Bible as advocating an experience-oriented faith. Jesus Himself said, “An evil generation seeks after a sign…”

Big, fat amen.

I just read through your testimony, and I could have written it. Very similar experience; took a long time (and a lot of serious de-programming and Bible study) to get over my brush with charismania.

Thank you for this blog.
